STAFFORD, Conn. (AP) - A group of Connecticut residents whose homes have deteriorating foundations is planning a rally outside the governor’s mansion in Hartford.

The Journal Inquirer reports (https://bit.ly/1UgrAb9 ) the rally by the Connecticut Coalition Against Crumbling Basements is scheduled for July 23. Members of the group say Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy hasn’t done enough to address the problem.

Malloy last year called on consumer protection officials and the attorney general’s office to investigate the problem. The investigations continue.

The state has received complaints from more than 200 homeowners about failing foundations, but experts believe thousands of eastern Connecticut homes may be affected.

Officials have traced the problem to aggregate from a quarry in Willington that may contain high levels of a mineral believed to be a major factor in the crumbling foundations.
