NEW YORK (AP) - One person was killed and four other people taken to the hospital after an early morning car crash in the Bronx.

Police said a 28-year-old man was driving his car southbound on Bronxwood Avenue at 219th Street when it hit a car heading eastbound. The impact sent the eastbound car onto its side and the cars hit a number of parked vehicles.

The driver of the eastbound car, a 39-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was identified as Michael Rhone.

The 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were in critical condition. A 30-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were in stable condition.
