NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Police Department says officers shot and killed a man who they say refused their orders to drop his gun.

Officers went to the Bronx neighborhood shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday after receiving a 911 call and notification of a shooting in the area from a gunshot detection system.

Authorities say the officers came across 25-year-old Rashaun Lloyd, who was holding a gun and refused their orders to put down the weapon. Three officers fired their weapons, striking Lloyd several times. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say a gun was recovered at the scene.
