WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - The first day of summer will be celebrated with music around Vermont.

Organizers say Make Music Vermont on Tuesday brings music makers out to the sidewalks, parks, porches and public places for a free celebration. The event coincides with music-making taking place in more than 120 countries and 700 cities around the world.

Anyone can participate in Make Music Vermont, which is coordinated by the independent music collective Big Heavy World.

Bands also will be performing at five state parks. They are Kingsland Bay State Park in Ferrisbugh, Grand Isle State Park in Grand Isle, Jamaica State Park in Jamaica, Boulder Beach State Park in Groton and Silver Lake State Park in Barnard.
