GLADSTONE, N.D. (AP) - A 32-year-old Gladstone man on the ballot for a city council spot has also managed to win as a write-in for mayor of the small western North Dakota city.

KXMB-TV (https://bit.ly/24WO1Ss) reports that Councilman Chase Fred won two positions, setting up a choice. KFGO-AM reports Fred has decided to be mayor.

Though Fred ran for city council, 27 voters wrote his name down for mayor, beating out a different candidate’s 21 votes.

Fred says he wants to see new business come to town. He and his wife moved to the city roughly a year ago.
