WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia police have arrested a man in the fatal shooting of a church employee inside her home in southeast Washington.

Police said in a news release Sunday that they’ve arrested 49-year-old Donald Hairston of District Heights, Maryland. He’s been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 40-year-old Stephanie Goodloe.

Police were called to Goodloe’s home early Saturday morning. She had been shot multiple times and died at the scene.

WRC-TV reports that Goodloe worked in youth ministry at Mount Gilead Baptist Church in northwest Washington. Another church, Christian Tabernacle Church of God, said in a statement on its Facebook page that Goodloe had worked as its daycare director.
