SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) - Springdale police are investigating after an officer shot and wounded a man after responding to a domestic disturbance call.

The department says in a statement that the suspect was shot by Officer Cody Combs after refusing to drop a rifle the man was holding during Sunday’s dispute.

Police say the 36-year-old suspect was taken to a local hospital and in stable condition.

The department statement says Combs has been placed on administrative leave while the department conducts an internal investigation.
