WESTMINSTER, Calif. (AP) - Some 6000 people flocked to a Vietnamese temple in Southern California to see the Dalai Lama deliver a sermon.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1QdRj2n) worshippers lined up as early as 3 a.m. Saturday to see the Dalai Lama on his first visit to Little Saigon to help christen the new temple in Westminster.

The Dalai Lama is a hero to generations of Vietnamese Americans. During his sermon he urged listeners be kind and compassionate.

The temple officially opens Sunday.
