COLFAX TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in Michigan’s rural Thumb region say two people have died and a third has been seriously hurt after the pickup truck in which they were riding struck a cement mixer.

Huron County sheriff’s officials say the pickup’s two passengers, a 24-year-old and 19-year-old, died in the Thursday morning crash in Colfax Township. The 23-year-old driver is in serious condition at a hospital.

Investigators say the driver didn’t yield as the truck pulled into the path of the loaded mixer. The 45-year-old driver of the mixing vehicle wasn’t hurt.

Autopsies are expected to be performed on Friday.

Authorities didn’t release the victims’ names.
