KOEHLER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a black bear has died after being struck by a car in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.

The Cheboygan County sheriff’s department says the crash Tuesday in Koehler Township left the 62-year-old driver with what were described as minor injuries. The woman from Onaway was treated at a hospital for neck injuries and breathing problems before being released.

WHSB-FM reports the bear died at the scene. TV station WWTV reports that sheriff’s deputies say the bear weighed about 240 pounds.

The crash is under investigation.
