FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a retired Lauderdale County educator died in an apparent drowning after falling into her Florence home’s swimming pool.

Central Volunteer Fire Department Chief David Hale tells The TimesDaily (https://bit.ly/284UnDQ ) that 74-year-old Ann Brewer Webb was pulled from the water Tuesday evening, but died after being taken to a hospital.

Webb’s son-in-law Steve Mayfield says his 9-year-old niece discovered Webb in the water.

Officials say Webb taught in the Lauderdale County school system for more than 26 years. They did not release an official cause of death.
