BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A former Buffalo school district official admits stealing more than $10,000.

Federal prosecutors say 56-year-old Debbie Buckley of Niagara Falls faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to stealing government funds.

Investigators say Buckley signed fraudulent invoices submitted by her son for work he didn’t perform during the 2009-10 school year. Most of the son’s paychecks were then deposited into accounts she controlled.

Authorities say Buckley was promoted to assistant superintendent of federal and state programs while the fraud was ongoing.
