BYRAM, Miss. (AP) - An 18-year-old man has been charged in what police say appears to be a deadly home burglary in Byram.

Multiple news agencies report Byram police say in a statement that Samuel Reed of Terry was arrested Wednesday and charged with capital murder in the death of another man following an investigation.

Police say officers responded to a home for a report of a burglary where they found a resident of the home and a deceased man, believed to be the intruder.

Detectives believe Reed had been visiting the residence and worked with the intruder to rob the home.

Police say the resident shot and killed the intruder when the man entered the home. Their identities haven’t been released.

It’s unclear whether Reed has an attorney.
