PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Police say a Portland man who apparently drowned after falling from a rock seawall into Portland Harbor has been identified.

Police say the body of 42-year-old Jonathan Knights of Portland was located early Thursday near Portland Yacht Services.

People who were with Knights told police that he fell late Wednesday from a height of 10 to 15 feet.

Lt. James Sweatt from the Portland Police Department says others tried to direct the man to a place where they could help him but they eventually lost sight of him. The state medical examiner’s office in Augusta plans to conduct an autopsy.
