VIDALIA, La. (AP) - A 35-year-old Mississippi man has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in connection with an April double-shooting in Vidalia.

Curt Thornton, of Natchez, is charged in the deaths of his estranged wife, 36-year-old Angela Thornton and 36-year-old John Tibbs, both of whom were killed at Angela Thornton’s home in Vidalia.

The Natchez Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1XjVNqR) a date has not been set for a jury trial.

Assistant District Attorney Ann Siddall said the state was not seeking the death penalty.

Thornton is being held on an $800,000 bond.
