SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico election candidates and political action committees are submitting campaign finance reports detailing contributions and expenditures ahead of Tuesday’s primary election.

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office is giving state and local candidates until late Thursday night to provide details of campaign finances for the month of May.

Tuesday’s primary will determine the party nominations in key legislative districts, with control of the New Mexico House of Representatives and Senate at stake in fall elections.

There are 14 contested primaries in the House, and nine in the Senate. Nine incumbent Democrats are facing primary challenges.

The GOP holds a 37-33 majority in the House. Democrats control the Senate 24-18.

Nominations are uncontested in three races for secretary of state, Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
