NEW YORK (AP) - An international jury with a California flavor will select the design for New York City’s proposed new bus terminal.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced the eight-person panel Thursday.

Three members have California roots and three members are from New York. One member is from London and the remaining member works for a transportation think tank in Washington, D.C.

The Port Authority plans to replace its current 66-year-old terminal, which handles about 220,000 passenger trips daily and is a source of frequent delays.

Port Authority chairman John Degnan said last week that five design finalists are to be selected this month. They are scheduled to submit their entries by August.

The jury is expected to present its recommendation to the Port Authority board by September.
