LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Thunderstorms and possibly heavy rainfall are in the forecast for Arkansas.

The National Weather Service says that numerous showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday afternoon, especially in central and southern Arkansas.

Forecasters say locally heavy downpours could likely drop up to three-quarters of an inch of rain. Spotty severe weather and flash flooding are also possible.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely to continue on Friday and Saturday as a stalled front across the region interacts with a storm system in Texas. Isolated severe storms and flash flooding may accompany the storms.

Forecasters say rain chances will decrease on Sunday as a secondary front sweeps across the state from the plains.
