URBANA, Ill. (AP) - A judge is allowing a University of Illinois student to leave the state while a murder charge is pending against her in the death of her newborn son.

Judge Tom Difanis agreed to modify the bond of 20-year-old Lindsay Johnson of Monee so that she may attend a drum corps event in Whitewater, Wisconsin, June 25 and 26.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports ( ) prosecutors had no objection to the request.

Johnson was charged in April with first-degree murder, child endangerment and concealment of a homicidal death in connection with the March 13 birth and death of Robert Johnson. She’s accused of putting a towel or her hand over the infant’s mouth to quiet him, leading to his death.

She has been free on bond since April 12.
