FLORIDA CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE ANNOUNCES AR-15 GIVEAWAY

Greg Evers said Monday that he is giving away an AR-15, because terrorist incidents are on the rise. The Republican candidate has served in the Florida Legislature since 2001. A statement says he has never felt stronger about the importance of the Second Amendment.

FLORIDA DEPUTY FIRED AFTER ASSAULTING INMATE

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reports in a news release that former Deputy Matthew Stanfield was terminated Monday. A misdemeanor battery charge was referred to prosecutors. Stanfield was making rounds in the jail in March when he saw derogatory graffiti about law enforcement in an inmate’s cell. Investigators say Stanfield questioned the inmate, who admitted to writing it.



WOMAN CHARGED WITH THREATENING TO BOMB SOUTH FLORIDA MOSQUE

An arrest report from police in Sunrise says Irina Bihary pulled a brown paper bag from her purse Sunday while walking around a prayer room at the Islamic Foundation. The report also says that while talking to witnesses, Bihary said she didn’t care if they all died there.

1 DEAD IN TRAIN CRASH NEAR FORT LAUDERDALE

Broward Sheriff’s spokeswoman Joy Oglesby said in a news release that the crash happened about 9:20 a.m. Monday on the Florida East Coast railroad tracks in Pompano Beach.

OBAMA RECORDS RADIO AD FOR US REP. PATRICK MURPHY’S SENATE CAMPAIGN

The one-minute ad was released Monday and is airing statewide. Murphy is facing U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson in the primary. They are seeking the seat now held by Republican Marco Rubio.
