LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Pulaski County man has pleaded not guilty in the shooting death of a firefighter responding to a medical call.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/28K5vl2 ) that 48-year-old Mark Pruitt pleaded not guilty Monday to manslaughter in the Jan. 22 shooting death of 29-year-old Ronald Jason Adams.

Pruitt’s trial is to begin Nov. 29.

Authorities say Adams was a volunteer with the East Pulaski Fire Department when he responded to a call about a patient having a seizure at a home near North Little Rock. Police say Adams lived near the home and was the first responder on the scene when he arrived about 5 a.m.

Adams died at a hospital where he was taken after the shooting.

Adams also worked as a full-time firefighter with the nearby Sherwood Fire Department.
