BALTIMORE (AP) - Authorities say a 25-year-old man faces murder charges in the death of a 13-year-old in Baltimore.

Baltimore Police Chief Kevin Davis announced Monday the arrest of Anthony Jerome Clark Jr. in the death of DiAndre Barnes.

Davis said Clark was identified as a person of interest after the June 11 shooting. Officers patrolling the area the next day encountered the man. Davis said he was taken into custody after a foot pursuit during he shot at the officers and they fired back. Neither Clark nor the officers were hit.

Davis said a handgun found at a residence associated with Clark was matched to the gun used in Barnes’ killing. He said Barnes wasn’t Clark’s intended target.

The phone at the Central Booking and Intake Center, where Clark is being held, wasn’t answered Monday.
