FRANKLIN, La. (AP) - The Chitimacha Tribe’s chairman has been arrested on a charge of felony theft.

Louisiana State Police say 44-year-old O’Neal J. Darden Jr. surrendered to authorities Monday and was released after posting $5,000 bond. It was unknown if he has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

Darden was named in a January complaint that also included Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel General Manager Anthony Patrone and Chief Financial Officer Montie Spivey.

According to state police, Patrone and Spivey instructed the casino’s human resources department to list Darden as an active employee after he was no longer working at the casino which is owned by the tribe. That move allowed Darden to receive an annual bonus which he was not entitled to.

Patrone and Spivey were arrested in February on felony theft, computer fraud and obstruction of justice charges.
