BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) - Federal agents are in Bluffton to talk about active shooter situations with the faith-based community.

On Monday, agents from the FBI are holding a situational awareness symposium at LowCountry Community Church in Bluffton from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Agents say they will give up-to-date information about what they’ve learned about responding to such situations and how to handle future threats.

They’ll talk about characteristics of active shooters, how to handle a crush of national news and support victims and their families.

The FBI began hosting these sessions after the June 2015 shootings at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. Similar events have been held in more than half a dozen other South Carolina cities.
