SOUTHLAKE, Texas (AP) - A 13-year-old girl has died after being found underwater during swim practice in a school district pool in a Dallas/Fort Worth suburb.

Carroll Independent School District spokeswoman Julie Thannum tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (https://bit.ly/28Jtrj1 ) that the advanced North Texas Nadadores swim club had finished warming up at the school district’s aquatic center in Southlake around 6:45 a.m. Monday when members noticed that their teammate, Elise Cerami, was underwater for unknown reasons.

Elise was pulled from the water. Coaches immediately began CPR and called 911. She was transported to a hospital in Plano and then another in Fort Worth.

Thannum says that coach Bill Christensen began to have heart attack symptoms shortly after the incident. He is in good condition after undergoing surgery.

The aquatics center is closed through Tuesday, and a swim meet Wednesday has been canceled.
