JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Police in Jonesboro say a burglary suspect was shot and killed after he and another man forced their way into an apartment.

Police spokesman Paul Holmes told KAIT-TV (https://bit.ly/28IEque ) that 30-year-old Brandon Edwards died at a hospital after being shot Sunday night.

Police say the apartment resident told officers that he opened fire after Edwards and another man forced their way into his apartment and said they were going to kill him. Police say the second man fled the scene of the shooting, but was arrested as officers arrived and is being held on a burglary charge.

The apartment resident’s name was not immediately released and Holmes said the man has not been charged in the shooting.
