GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A man will spend 40 to 65 years in prison for the slaying of his 64-year-old mother and stabbing of his father in his parents Clare County home.

The Saginaw News and Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant report that 44-year-old Scott Pouillon of Owosso was sentenced Monday.

Pouillon pleaded guilty but mentally ill in May to second-degree murder and assault with intent to murder charges.

Cheryl Pouillon was found stabbed to death in March 2015 in her Greenwood Township home, northwest of Saginaw. Her 65-year-old husband, Donald Pouillon, had to be hospitalized.

Scott Pouillon was arrested in Isabella County.
