PRESTON, Minn. (AP) - Authorities say a Minneapolis woman has died in a canoeing accident in southeastern Minnesota over the weekend.

Fillmore County sheriff’s authorities were called to a bike trail by the Root River on Saturday afternoon for a medical emergency. When emergency crews arrived they found 63-year-old Wendy Beth Anderson unresponsive. Crews tried to revive her, but Anderson was dead at the scene.

KSTP-TV (https://bit.ly/28JIzPa ) reports Anderson and her husband had been canoeing on the river when their canoe hit a log and overturned. Anderson was able to swim his wife to the riverbank and get the attention of a bicyclist.

The Fillmore County sheriff’s office says it’s the third incident the office has responded to on the river in the past two weeks.
