FREEPORT, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car that was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Long Island.

Nassau County police say the 62-year-old male victim suffered severe head trauma and was hospitalized in critical condition.

The accident occurred Sunday evening in Freeport.

Police say the driver of a Dodge Caravan was making a left turn when he was struck by a Toyota. The collision caused the Dodge to overturn and strike the pedestrian.

Both drivers were examined at a hospital and released.

Their vehicles were impounded for brake and safety tests.

The investigation is continuing.
