JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Jackson police say a Father’s Day fight led to a 25-year-old man being shot in the face by his stepfather.

Police Commander Tyree Jones told local media outlets officers responded to a call just after 3 p.m. where police found Christian Sullivan had been shot.

Jones said Sullivan and his stepfather, 49-year-old Rocky Burke, had a fight and Burke then allegedly retrieved a handgun and shot Sullivan once.

He says Sullivan was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

Burke will have his initial appearance before a municipal court judge early this week. He faces a charge of aggravated assault.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Burke.
