HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Hattiesburg City Council is considering whether to authorize Water Company of America to conduct an investigation into the city’s water service in order to maximize billable revenue.

Councilman Carter Carroll told The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/28L9vAF) after Monday’s council meeting the company would come in and look to see where city is not charging on water now that’s being utilized by a business or developer.

Carroll says Water Company of America - which has offices in Mississippi, Texas, Florida and Utah - would get a percentage of whatever amount the company collected.

If approved, the study would begin in about six months.
