WINNSBORO, S.C. (AP) - Fairfield County officials say a Lancaster man has drowned in Lake Wateree.

Coroner Barkley Ramsey told local media outlets that the body of 28-year-old Keevan Anthony was found about 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Ramsey says Anthony and a cousin and friends had spent most of the day at the lake when he jumped off a pier about 4 p.m. and disappeared in about 12 feet of water.

Ramsey said Anthony did not know how to swim. The coroner says Anthony’s companions tried to pull him up, but were unsuccessful.

Newberry County divers recovered the body.
