CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A county library in South Carolina is being dedicated in honor of one of the Charleston church shooting victims.

Charleston County library officials say a dedication ceremony Tuesday is one of a number of events being held to mark the naming of the St. Andrews branch of the library in honor of Cynthia Graham Hurd. Tuesday would have been her 56th birthday.

Hurd worked for the county libraries for 31 years and was manager of the St. Andrews branch when she was killed a year ago along with eight others at Emanuel AME Church.

On Saturday, children visiting The John Dart Library branch can receive free brooks donated by Hurd’s brothers and sisters. The Cynthia Graham Hurd Foundation is collecting books and is holding collection drives throughout the month.
