HOUSTON (AP) - A man has been charged in a head-on traffic accident that killed a man and a woman and injured two children in northwest Harris County.

The Houston Chronicle (https://bit.ly/28KrRlb ) reports that Clark Dumesnil has been charged with intoxication assault and two counts of murder in the Sunday night accident.

Authorities say Dumesnil was driving a pickup truck eastbound on FM 529 when he hit another pickup truck while trying to avoid hitting another car that had stopped in front of him.

Deputies say driver Alejandro Aguirre Avila and Carmen Maurilia Meza Ramirez died in the crash. An infant and toddler riding with them were injured and flown to a Houston hospital.

Dumesnil was being held Monday in the Harris County Jail on nearly $1 million bail.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
