YEMASSEE, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after a 3-year-old child was killed after darting in front of a car.

Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres tells The Island Packet of Hilton Head (https://bit.ly/28KI4mq ) that the child was struck about 8 p.m. Monday in Yemassee in the Lowcountry.

The name of the child was not immediately released.

Beres says the investigation is continuing.
