SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - An Agawam (AG’-ah-wahm) woman charged in a hit-and-run that left a teenager paralyzed from the chest down is expected to plead guilty.

Prosecutors and the defense set July 25 as a date for a guilty plea in Jomaris Colon’s case on Monday in Springfield. She has pleaded not guilty to charges including operating under the influence of liquor.

Police say 16-year-old Alex Scafuri of Agawam was skateboarding home on March 16, 2015 when he was hit by Colon’s car. Authorities say Colon left the scene.

Colon is expected to plead guilty in July, but it’s not clear what charges she will plead to or if there is an agreement about the sentence.
