CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Natrona County Coroner has identified a man who was shot and killed by police in Casper on Tuesday.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/28Rjge7) that the coroner’s office identified the man as 50-year-old Jeffrey A. Hyde.

Authorities say an officer with the Mills Police Department shot and killed Hyde after police responded to reports that a gunman was shooting into homes in a central Casper neighborhood Tuesday evening.

Authorities say Hyde was armed with a rifle and fired several rounds at officers. No officers were hit but one neighbor suffered cuts from broken glass.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the incident. Attempts to reach an agency spokesman were unsuccessful on Wednesday and Thursday.
