RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s has named a new top aide to help him lure new business to Virginia.

McAuliffe’s office announced Thursday that Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Todd Haymore will be the next secretary of commerce and trade.

Haymore, a holdover from former Gov. Bob McDonnell’s administration, will replace outgoing commerce secretary Maurice Jones.

Economic development has been a top priority for McAuliffe and Haymore has accompanied the governor on multiple trade missions abroad.

Haymore will take over in September, when Jones plans to start at a New York-based nonprofit in September.
