CUSTER, S.D. (AP) - The Black Hills Historic Preservation Trust is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of those involved in the vandalism of a historic homestead in the Black Hills National Forest.

Officials say vandals caused more than $4,000 in estimated damage to the historic Meeker Ranch northeast of Custer. Windows were broken and an exterior door was damaged by forced entry.

The U.S. Forest Service and others have been working for years to restore the property.

Anyone with information can contact the Forest Service or the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
