NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Authorities say a Virginia man has pleaded guilty to pretending to be a federal agent.

Officials say Luis Latorre-Roman II of Toano impersonated a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security while testifying during a sentencing hearing in James City County on February 24.

Authorities say Roman was trying to persuade the judge to impose a lesser sentence on the defendant and that he has never been a special agent for the Homeland Security.

Officials say Roman faces up to three years in prison when he’s sentenced on Oct. 3.
