BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - The standard $27 adoption fee at Bay County Animal Control is being waived as the agency is pushing to find homes for dogs and cats housed at the facility.

The Bay City Times reports (https://bit.ly/28WB5cX ) that a “Clear the Shelter” event is scheduled to start Saturday morning.

More than 50 cats and about 10 dogs currently are in the facility.

The newspaper reports that if a dog or cat already is sterilized, its new owner will receive a certificate for a free rabies vaccination. If the animal is not sterilized, the new owner will receive a certificate to cover the sterilization only.
