BEAVER CROSSING, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska State Patrol says three people have been arrested after cocaine and methamphetamine were found in their sport utility vehicle.

The patrol said in a news release Friday that a trooper stopped the SUV for speeding just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday near the Beaver Crossing exit on Interstate 80 in Seward County. A patrol dog indicated the presence of drugs, and the patrol says nearly 23 pounds of cocaine and nearly 8 pounds of meth were found during a search of the SUV.

The driver and two passengers were arrested. Online court records don’t show that they’ve been charged yet. Two children in the vehicle were placed in protective custody with the Nebraska Health and Human Services Department.
