MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a Wisconsin woman who was struck and killed as she tried to help a bird off a highway in the Madison area.

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s office identifies the victim as 45-year-old Kimberly Zeier of McFarland.

The Wisconsin State Journal (https://bit.ly/28Xny6Q ) reports Madison police say Zeier was struck by a vehicle Wednesday on Wisconsin Highway 30 as she tried to escort a bird off the road. She died at the scene.

Police say the driver is cooperating with investigators.
