NEWKIRK, Okla. (AP) - A highway has reopened in northern Oklahoma after floodwaters forced its closure on Friday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol shut down parts of U.S. 77 in Kay County on Friday morning because of “high, fast moving water,” but the roadway reopened a few hours later. The National Weather Service says more than 6 inches of rain fell overnight in Kay County.

The weather service says flooding was expected in Ponca City, Newkirk, Kildare and Chilocco.
