EASTON, Md. (AP) - A judge is refusing to reverse the convictions or reopen the cases of two men in a 1987 slaying in Easton.

The Star Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/28S1rcF ) that Talbot County Circuit Judge Stephen Kehoe denied the motions by 47-year-old David Faulkner and 47-year-old Jonathan Smith on Wednesday.

They’re serving life sentences - Faulkner for murder and Smith for murder conspiracy - in the stabbing death of 64-year-old Adeline Wilford.

Kehoe said in a written ruling he was not persuaded that newly discovered evidence would have resulted in different verdicts.

Defense attorneys said a previously unidentified palm print found in the victim’s house was recently matched to another man, Ty Brooks, who’s been convicted of other burglaries and assaults in the area.

Faulkner and Smith were convicted in 2001.
