LEESVILLE, La. (AP) - Authorities say a 22-year-old Leesville man has been arrested after deputies found his wife dead in the couple’s home.

Vernon Sheriff Sam Craft said in a news release Destin Reder faces a charge of second-degree murder. Bond was set at $3 million.

Craft said deputies went to a Reder’s home about 6:30 a.m. Thursday in response to a call about an unconscious woman.

The sheriff say they were told the woman, 28-year-old Samantha Johnson Reder, may have overdosed on prescription pills.

Craft said a drug overdose was not consistent with the physical evidence found at the scene.

He said Reder later admitted having been involved in a fight with his wife before her death.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Reder.
