NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A man has been convicted of breaking into a Pennsylvania apartment, crawling into a 6-year-old girl’s bed and raping her.

Oscar Herrera was convicted Thursday in Norristown of charges including rape of a child, burglary and indecent assault.

Prosecutors say the girl’s 11-year-old brother awoke in November 2015 to sounds coming from the top bunk above him at their Hatfield home. He alerted his parents after hearing a man’s voice.

The girl’s mother testified Herrera was naked in bed with their daughter.

The Associated Press doesn’t generally identify victims of sexual assault.

Defense attorney Brendan Campbell has maintained his client admits breaking into the home drunk and slipping into the girl’s bed, but says he never assaulted her.

The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation and a sexually violent predator evaluation.
