BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a drug trafficking operation has been busted after an investigation from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office and others.

Sgt. Steve Jarrett says Juan Lopez is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine after local and federal authorities served a search warrant Thursday in Bessemer.

Jarrett says investigators found two kilograms of cocaine, a pound of methamphetamine, $25,000, five handguns and an assault rifle.

Jarrett says Lopez is being held in the Jefferson County jail. Jail records say he’s also charged with carrying firearms without a license and is being held on $60,000 bond.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
