CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Police in Charlotte say a man has been killed and a woman was wounded in a shooting.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in a news release that officers found the victims after being called to an assault case early Friday morning.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. The woman was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries that were not thought to be non-life threatening.

The names of the victims have not been released.

No arrests have been reported.

Investigators say they do not think the shootings were random. They were searching the neighborhood for witnesses.
