ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for fatally shooting another man inside a suburban Rochester bar last year.

David Alligood of Rochester was sentenced Thursday in Monroe County Court to 25 years to life for his murder conviction and another 15 years for criminal possession of a weapon.

A jury convicted Alligood earlier this month in the April 2015 killing of 37-year-old Ricky Jones inside the Gates Pub in the town of Gates.

Prosecutors say the gunfire erupted after Alligood got into an argument with a woman. He then pulled out a gun and started firing, killing Jones. Police say Jones also had a gun and used it in self-defense.

Six bar patrons were wounded, some of them by Jones.
